building trust in relationships!!

BUILDING TRUST--
Trust, as we know, is a crucial factor in any relationship. Many relationships have broken up over trust issues. Once violated, trust is very difficult to repair and rebuild so it has to be guarded carefully and constantly nurtured. It can be compared to a plant that needs the right soil, water and temperature to flourish and attain full bloom. So too, trust requires the right conditions and environment to sustain a relationship through highs and lows. There is no guarantee if partners trust each other in a relationship that it will continue to stay that way. You can never trust enough, nor can you take it for granted. You have to constantly build on it.What are the barriers to building trust in a relationship?
Desire to control
When one partner or the other seeks to control the relationship and wants to achieve the upper hand it is very difficult to meet on equal ground and establish trust. If you are not happy in a relationship and constantly seek to change your partner and dictate terms, it is not an environment conducive to building trust. Your partner will withdraw and alienate himself/herself from you.
Dishonesty
If you are always trying to hide things from your partner, or lie by omission, or only tell him/her what you think he/she needs to hear, you are not just being dishonest with your partner but you are not being true to yourself either. Remember that if you're doing something wrong that you can't talk about to your partner, it's not about hiding it from your partner but whether you can live with it. Whatever you do, have the courage of your convictions and there will never be the need to be dishonest.
Self-centeredness
When we focus only on our needs, and ourselves we tend to do things that don't help the relationship and will probably cause a rift in it. If you have selfish motives it erodes the trust that your partner has placed in you and causes a loss of faith. This in turn hampers the growth of the relationship and causes it to stagnate. In order to build trust in a relationship we have to overcome these barriers and ensure they don't act as stumbling blocks. In addition, it is important to work on those factors that enhance trust and cement it so that it acts as a cohesive force in a relationship.
Be open
It is vital in a relationship to be as open and honest as possible. Sometimes couples lie to each other on the pretext that the truth will hurt their partner. That is something they should think about when they are indulging in the dishonest act, not at the time of disclosure. If you think twice about what you're doing and how it will hurt your partner, if you really care for him/her you won't do it. If you're constantly hiding things and not being sincere it stunts the relationship and inhibits trust.
Communication
Communication forms the core - an integral part of building trust and sustaining a relationship. Communication does not involve one person doing all the talking – that too only surface talk about fashion trends and gossip. Communicating effectively involves both partners contributing their fair share to the conversation and listening when the other talks. It involves laying your cards on the table and telling it like it is, talking about your deeper emotions and feelings. It means being straightforward about your needs and expectations.
Forgiveness
Building trust in a relationship also involves being able to forgive your partner for the hurt he may have caused you in the past. If you can't do that and insist on clinging to petty problems or keep raking up old issues, the relationship will die a natural death. Or one or both of you is going to be extremely unhappy. If you decide to continue in a relationship despite the hurt your partner may have inflicted on you in the past and would like to work on rebuilding the trust, you have to be willing to wipe the slate clean and start over.
Empathize
When problems come up or difficult situations arise as they are bound to, it is important to show concern for your partner's feelings and be sensitive to their needs. Even if you didn't agree with their course of action and he didn't take your advice, support him in his time of despair. If you understand his deepest desires and identify with his interests, he is more inclined to trust you with his feelings. If you throw them back in his face, ridicule him or rub it in when he's stumbled and fallen, he will not be inclined to trust you.
Maintain positive feelings
If your partner has never given you reason to doubt him, then don't. What's that line about someone not being guilty unless proven otherwise? If you're always suspicious and doubting his motives, jealous and quick to jump to conclusions (often the wrong ones) it will be very difficult to build trust. Treat your partner just the way you would want to be treated – with love and respect.Building trust in a relationship doesn't come with a snap of the fingers. It takes hard work and commitment, but once you have it and work to keep it alive, you will reap the fruits of it.

satyam investors urge merger to counter takeover

Problems seem to be unending for Satyam Computer service. After the abortion of Maytas deal and slapping of a bar by World Bank on it, the company is now under the threat of a hostile takeover by a domestic or overseas company, including private equity firms. To counter this, Satyam's management and some of its institutional investors are exploring a merger with another software company.
A report appeared in Business Standard, quoting investment banking sources, says that the company is reportedly in talks with Delhi-based HCL Technologies and Bangalore-based MindTree, with HCL seems to be the front-runner.Satyam has been under pressure after institutional shareholders forced it to reverse a decision to invest almost Rs 8,000 crore in two promoter-owned companies mid-December, followed by resignation of four independent directors. The company's share price has fallen 21.3 percent since December 15, the day before the crisis broke. Investment banking sources said a merger of Satyam and HCL would create India's largest software company with a combined market capitalization of Rs 20,200 crore (Satyam: Rs 12,000 crore; HCL: Rs 8,200 crore), which would enhance its valuation. After some institutional investors sold promoters' shares pledged with them to make good margin calls when the stock price started falling, Satyam promoters' stake has come down to little over 5 percent. As a result, several investors think the company is vulnerable because it has cash reserves of over Rs 5,500 crore. The promoters' holding in HCL Technologies, which has completed the acquisition of UK-based Axon for $658 million, is around 67 percent. The merger strategy has been approved by DSP Merrill Lynch, which is advising the Satyam management on a potential takeover threat, says sources. The pressure to merge with another IT firm is building because investors fear that a takeover by a non-IT firm like a private equity firm is unlikely to bring the benefits of synergy.

wipro to go ahead wid hiring plans

India's third-biggest software exporter Wipro Technologies on Tuesday said that it will hire around 13,500 engineering graduates as> planned earlier. This comes at a time when the company is coping with a slowing demand for its services in the US and European markets. Wipro, which has offered these graduates an option of joining the company's BPO arm, said it will not change the salary package for those opting to join Wipro BPO. As reported by ET last week, these graduates have the option of joining Wipro's BPO division. The company has come up with the option since it anticipates a slowdown in projects in its software services business. This is already happening. Pradeep Bahirwani, vice-president for talent acquisition at Wipro, said that more than 95% of the engineering graduates have already accepted the option of working in Wipro's BPO centre in Kolkata. These fresh hires would be transitioned to the IT services segment within 12-18 months as their BPO experience would be considered relevant. These graduates will make anywhere between Rs 2.75 lakh and Rs 3.25 lakh per annum. Engineering graduates who are not willing to join Wipro BPO will have to wait for around two quarters before they are accommodated in the IT services business. The company added that the nature of work for those joining BPO will be in the non-voice segment, dealing with transaction processing which requires technical expertise.

oracle -India prefers hour based payments to cut salaries

IT employees may have to cop up with strategies being adopted by the companies to counter the economic downturn. Now, it's regarding their salary. Oracle, world's second largest software products company is transforming its payment mode by making the salary of its 20,000-odd employees in India according to the productive hours they spend in the company, reported Business Standard. Company sources said that if an employee is a billable resource for 15 days a month, he will be paid in full for that period while for the rest of the period, he is paid a nominal amount. The new development has resulted in salary cuts, ranging between 10 and 50 percent across the board. The company has also asked all non-billable employees to get themselves engaged in internal projects, failing, which they can explore opportunities outside the company. However, it is not clear that the company is asking the non-billable employees to work for outside companies as contract employees while still on Oracle's rolls, or to use their non-productive hours to make money for themselves.Oracle introduced the new plan for the employees in Oracle Financial Services software and reportedly implemented across all its centers in India. However, the company has not given any written material to employees regarding the new plan, while the team leaders and project managers in different centers have been informed about the decision orally. "They are telling us that while many companies are laying off employees, Oracle does not want to take such extreme steps. They are saying that once things start improving, we will be back to all the usual compensation and allowances," said a senior employee of Oracle India on condition of anonymity.Oracle's second quarter's net income has fallen half a percent to $1.27 billion and the company's sales were up 5.5 percent to $5.6 billion, lower than analyst estimates. Revenues from new software licences were also down to three percent to $1.6 billion. According to the sources, after the acquisition of i-Flex there were plans to lay off all employees of that company, but the decision scrapped following the intervention of Oracle's management. Sources further added that the company has cancelled employee travel costs and withdrawn free snacks and food. Though the company is saying that they don't stop recruitments in India, freshers who were given offer letters for annual packages of Rs 2.4 lakh to Rs 2.5 lakh earlier are now being asked to consider packages of Rs 1.5 lakh to Rs 1.8 lakh

we wont hire anybody frm satyam--infosys

Already stranded by the sudden revelation of India's biggest corporate scandal, the employees of Satyam will face more trouble as Infosys has made it clear that they will not hire anybody from Satyam. "We will not touch such a tainted company," said Infosys Founder and non-executive Chairman N R Narayana Murthy, while commenting on speculations over the firm's plan to takeover Satyam.
The company has also instructed their recruiting staff to avoid employing any Satyam employees. Infosys has even advised staff against entertaining calls from Satyam employees. The decision comes as a major roadblock to all employees who have begun hunting for other jobs. 10,900 Satyam employees have posted their resumes on the top job portals since one month. Amidst such turbulence, Infosys also said that the company will not hire any domain experts or project managers from the fraudulent firm, reports Economic Times.Although Satyam's top management put up a brave face on Thursday, saying it has assured employees of their future, the flood of messages at job portals and frenzied blog postings tell a different story. Addressing a conference on Thursday, Satyam's interim CEO Ram Mynampati said that the company had taken care of employees' December salaries but faced a cash crunch.

Lenovo to loose 2,500 employees worldwide

Chinese-owned computer maker Lenovo Thursday said it plans to lose about 2,500 staff, or 10 percent of its global workforce, in the next three months. The redundancies are a key part of a restructuring package designed to save Lenovo some 300 million dollars in its next financial year, which begins April 1, the company said in a statement. Lenovo, owned by China's Legend group, said it expects to announce a loss for the three months to Dec 31 last year, following a sharp drop in net profit for the previous quarter. The 150-million dollar "resource redeployment plan" will help the company "increase its efficiencies and become more competitive in the face of the continuing global economic downturn", it said."Although the integration of the IBM PC business for the past three years was a success, our last quarter's performance did not meet our expectations, " Yang Yuanqing, Lenovo's chairman, said in the statement."We are taking these actions now to ensure that in an uncertain economy, our business operates as efficiently and effectively as possible, and continues to grow in the future," Yang said. The job losses will include management and executive posts, with salary reductions for those remaining.Lenovo will also combine its China and Asia-Pacific organisations into a single business unit.Lenovo is the world's fourth-largest maker of personal computers by volume. It bought IBM's personal computer business for 1.25 billion dollars in 2005.

One is a straight path which takes you there quickly, but is very plain and boring.
The other is curvy and full of wonderful sights on the way, but takes quite a while to reach your loved> one's house
WHICH PATH DO YOU CHOOSE?
Short or long?
2. On the way, you see two rose bushes. One is full of white roses. One is full of red roses.
You decide to pick 20 roses for your boyfriend/girlfrien d.
WHAT COLOR COMBINATION DO YOU CHOOSE? (Any combination including all one> color is fine.)
3. You finally get to your boyfriend/girlfrien d's house. You ring the bell and the maid answers. You can ask the maid to please get your loved one, or you may go get them yourself.
WHICH ACTION DO YOU TAKE?
Ask the maid or do it yourself?
4. Now, you go up to your girlfriend/boyfrien ds room. No one is there.
You can leave the roses by the windowsill, or on the bed.
WHERE DO YOU PUT THE ROSES?
Bed or window?
5. Later, its time for bed. You and your loved one go to sleep, in separate rooms.
You wake up in the morning, and go to your boyfriend/girlfrien d's room to check up on him/her.
You enter the room: IS HE/SHE AWAKE OR SLEEPING?
6. It's time to go home now, and you start to head back. You can take either road home now: The plain, boring one thats gets you home fast; or the curvy, sight-filled road that you can just casually take your time with.
WHICH ROAD DO YOU CHOOSE?
Short or long?
Analysis
1. Which road do you choose to take to your love's house?

Placing the roses by the window show that you don't expect or need to> see your loved one that often; seeing them just once in a while is OK.
5. Do you find your love asleep or awake?
Finding your boyfriend/ girlfriend asleep: You accept your loved one the way they are.
Finding them awake: You expect him/her to change for you.
6. Which road do you choose to go home?
The short and long roads now represent how long you stay in love. If you chose the short one, you fall out of love easily.
If you chose the long one, you tend to stay in love for a long time.....

Telecom companies may need larger work forces

The Indian telecom sector will need up to 150,000 additional hands in 2009,according to job consultants, as new players are launching operations and existing ones are beginning to scale up. With the government having issued 120 new licenses, telecom industry officials fear a talent crunch could push salaries in core operations by up to 30 percent in the next few quarters. "Conservative estimates put the demand from new players at 100,000 people in the first phase. With the rolling out of 3G and Wimax, existing players will need another 50,000 people," said Kris Lakshmikanth, CEO, Headhunters India.
Currently, the telecom sector directly employs about 150,000 people, while providing jobs to another 1.5 million with retail outlets, prepaid card sellers and tower constructors, which is expected to go up further, given the rural market expansion by these players.
"The new players will have to attract talent by offering 15-20 percent higher salaries," said Krish Shankar, HR head at Airtel. Some of the new players such as Unitech, Swan, Loop Telecom and Shyam Telelink have started hiring and analysts feel this could drive poaching at top and middle management levels.
"Finding and retaining talent is a challenge today. Although we have an experienced workforce, at times they are short in supply. We generally look within the country itself, but are not closed to talent from anywhere if need be," said CN Nagakumar, Chief HR Officer, Tata Teleservices.

The problem for the new players would be to get people in the core telecom space, which is primarily concerned with the technology of providing telecom services. While talent in sales and marketing can be found in abundance, sourcing professionals for setting up the infrastructure and networks would be difficult.
New players are looking at training inexperienced or fresh graduates, owing to the talent crunch. "We have a team in place, however, we expect a shortage of talent with a number of players entering the market," said Vsevolod Rozanov, CEO, Shyam Telelink, which is recruiting from campuses.

job market set to bloom as firms plan mass hiring

Indian companies are now gearing up to present job seekers with a New Year gift. Though gone is a year of lay-offs, the 2009 could see a makeover in the job outlook with companies planning to hire more than 2,50,000 new employees over the next months.

The industry experts believe that the overall job market scenario is set for a recovery in the second half of the year. However, the proposed 2.5 lakh hiring is mostly for the financial services industry.Public sector banking giants like State Bank of India and Punjab National Bank along with insurance firms such as
Anil Ambani group's Reliance Life, SBI Life, Metlife and Max New York Life are some of the firms that are planning to hire in a big scale.
Even some BPOs and healthcare firms like ACS and Accentia are planning to hire thousands of people in the coming days. The proposed hiring includes more than one lakh of full-time employees and about 1.5 lakh in the part-time positions with the insurance companies.
Among other sectors, manufacturing and export-oriented businesses are, however, likely to continue to witness some pressure in the next few months, after huge job losses seen during 2008.
According to, HR consultancy firm Hewitt Associates, sectors like insurance, telecom (where new licensees are entering), infrastructure and special economic zones may look for fresh hiring in 2009. However, sectors like real estate, textile and retail sit on somewhat uncertain hiring outlook

Biggest looser in 2008!!!

Beaten down by the $30 billion loss, India's industrial tycoon Anil Ambani has topped the chart of the U.S. magazine Forbes' biggest losers list. The list of 10 billionaire blowups includes two more Indians - wind power major Suzlon's chief Tulsi Tanti and online gambling firm PartyGaming' s founder Anurag Dikshit.
Earlier, the junior Ambani was credited for having added maximum wealth in its annual rankings in March. The chairman of Anil Dhirubhai Ambani Group (ADAG) is reduced to a net worth of $12 billion from his previous worth of $42 billion, when he was ranked as the sixth richest person in the world. As per the report of the 'Billionaire Blowups of 2008', while several dozen have lost more than $5 billion, the 10 richest from annual 2008 rankings have lost about $150 billion. This is primarily driven by steel tycoon Lakshmi Mittal, estranged brothers Mukesh and Anil Ambani and property baron KP Singh together losing $100 billion. Moreover, over 300 of the 1,125 billionaires have lost at least one billion dollar since March."But among all the biggest loser of all was Anil Ambani, who was touted on the cover of our 2008 billionaires issue for having added $24 billion to his fortune in one year. Stocks of his telecom company dropped after his estranged brother helped scuttle a deal with African telecom MTN," the report said. Infact, it was also pinpointed that among all these 10 distinguish themselves for some of the biggest flops as they lost more than money. Some lost board seats and several even faced margin calls. A couple got in trouble with the law. Thus, all of them suffered hits to their reputations.Among the other losers, Tulsi Tanti's wealth dropped by $2.5 billion to stand at $500 million; while Dikshit's current net worth is about $1 billion, down from $1.6 billion in March 2008. __._,_.___

Is computer masculine or feminine??

A SPANISH Teacher was explaining to her class that in Spanish, unlikeEnglish, nouns are designated as either masculine or feminine. 'House' for instance, is feminine: 'la casa.' 'Pencil,' however, is masculine: 'el lapiz.' A student asked, 'What gender is 'computer'?' Instead of giving the answer, the teacher split the class into twogroups, male and female, and asked them to decide for themselveswhether computer' should be a masculine or a feminine noun.
Each groupwas asked to give four reasons for its recommendation.
The women's group, however, concluded that computers should beMasculine ('el computador'), because:
1. In order to do anything with them, you have to turn them on;
2. They have a lot of data but still can't think for themselves;
3. They are supposed to help you solve problems, but half the timethey ARE the problem; and
4. As soon as you commit to one, you realize that if you had waited alittle longer, you could have gotten a better model.
(THIS GETS BETTER!) The men's group decided that 'computer' should definitely be of thefeminine gender ('la computadora' ), because:
1. No one but their creator understands their internal logic;
2. The native language they use to communicate with other computers isincomprehensible to everyone else;
3. Even the smallest mistakes are stored in long term memory forpossible later retrieval; and
4. As soon as you make a commitment to one, you find yourself spendinghalf your paycheck on accessories for it .
